NCI CBIIT Awards SemanticBits the Knowledge Repository Contract

By March 1, 2010 No Comments

The purpose of the Knowledge Repository project is to analyze the current tools and technologies supporting the semantic architecture for NCI-affiliated biomedical computing, compare their features and capabilities to the expanded health information management and exchange needs articulated by NCI and the BIG Health Consortium, and develop a fresh design for the future that leverages and recycles the best of what has already been developed. NCI CBIIT awarded SemanticBits a contract to manage, architect, and develop the Knowledge Respository by leveraging Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts, semantic web technologies, and standards such as ISO 11179 and ISO 21090. The end result of the project will be a deployed reference implementation of the next generation architecture for biomedical semantics management, sharing and integration in the NCI and BIG Health Consortium universe.
